Arrived back in the US this past week. Saw interesting sights.
- A 40 panel photovoltaic array providing a screen from a highway for a hotel outside Florence, Italy
- Flying into Munich, Germany, about 2 acres of photovoltaic panels next to a conventional electrical generation plant
- Also outside Munich, a number of farmers’ barns covered with PV panels
All of this was at 44 degrees latitude and north. That is more than 6 degrees farther north than West Virginia, with that much less sun.
We also stayed in hotels where you had to insert your room key in a special slot to turn on the electricity in your room. When you left, and had to take your room key, all electricity in the room was shut off. Simple, but effective conservation.
