Citizens Against the Kemptown Electric Substation posted this link on their Facebook page.
This is clear evidence that a much bigger substations with much bigger transformers should not be forced on a residential community anywhere.
If you want to see what burning transformers look like, view the MSNBC link above. These transformers exploded and burned for hours. Local fire departments were unprepared to fight the electrical fire and had to let the toxic smoke pour from the site for most of the night. Later state environmental officials said that the smoke would not hurt anyone, except people with pre-existing conditions. That’s supposed to make us feel better? How about the people with those “pre-existing conditions”?
And about reliability — 35,000 AEP customers would be without power “for days” as a result of the damage caused by the explosions and fire at the substation.
