The House Finance committee ordered a public hearing on the bubble bond bailout bill on Friday. Unfortunately, the committee only allowed
24 3 hours notice for the hearing, which prevented a number of people who wanted to speak about the bill from attending. APCo turned out their Big Chief Charles Patton to speak in favor of the bill and claim that his company can be trusted not to abuse the bonding authority granted in the bill.
AP reporter Larry Messina did an excellent job of covering the hearing, providing a clear picture of the very sensible suggestions offered by speakers who wanted modifications to the bill. Here a link to his article. Remember that Charleston Gazette links die after about a week.
