  1. I had forgotten 3072. That was a stroke of accounting genius. The coal companies reduce their taxes by way of a consumption tax credit on coal we taxpayers (and rate payers) must purchase at inflated prices, to be burned in obsolete power plants, while the utility companies use their increased wealth to purchase pollution allowance credits upon which they write ans sell derivatives and option contracts. Bottom line???? Thinner wallets for rate payers; fatter compensation packages for coal and utility executives; dirtier air in the entire eastern portion of North America; more mountains flattened; and more streams forever rendered unusable for anything.
