Greensburg, Kansas – A Look at a Real Electrical Renaissance

Greensburg, Kansas was totally destroyed by a tornado.  Instead of rebuilding the same old buildings with the same old dependence on distant electricity generation, the people of Greensburg decided to rebuild their town to reduce use to a minimum, reduce their dependence on distant power plants and transmission lines, and, most important, produce their own power.

Here is their story.

And, for our friends in the Great Plains, this is how you do land based wind power: owned in your community, serving your needs first and fully integrated into a broad spectrum of energy efficient buildings and local, renewable electrical generation.

  1. Hooray for Greensburg! Perhaps they’ll join forces with the rest of the Kansans that were tossed under the bus by Sam and his monied pals in an effort to become America’s next power house. West Virginia seems to be losing its taste for that distinction.
